CALCULATOR

What hiring really costs you.

Fill in two things about your organisation and see what an in-house recruiter, an agency per vacancy and RPO cost you per year.

  1. Your situation.

Two questions. That is all the calculator needs to start.

The number of people you expect to hire over the next twelve months.

The basis for the agency fee. The new employee's own salary is not included: you pay that whichever route you take.

  2. What drives the difference.

These three sit at market averages and move the outcome the most. Set them to what you see around you.

On top of this comes 40% in employer costs.

What your agencies charge. This is not a Sennasearch rate.

Left blank, we calculate with €7,500 per recruiter per year.

  3. The outcome.

What each route costs you per year, based on what you entered above.

At 8 hires per year and an average gross annual salary of €60,000: an in-house recruiter comes to €78,000 per year (€9,750 per hire), an agency per vacancy to €103,500 per year (€12,938 per hire). At this volume the in-house recruiter is €25,500 per year cheaper.

What each route costs per year at the volume entered
    Route Per year Per hire
    In-house recruiter on the payroll €78,000 €9,750
    Agency per vacancy €103,500 €12,938
RPO through Sennasearch INDICATION €40,000 to €44,000 €5,000 to €5,500

At 6 hires per year an in-house recruiter is cheaper than agency fees for the first time.

    WHAT THAT STRUCTURALLY SAVES YOU

    €34,000 to €38,000

    43% to 48% per year

Against the cheapest of your own routes. Our rate of €40,000 to €44,000 is an indication for the equivalent of one recruiter.

Every assignment is different. What it comes to for your roles, your region and your current situation is something we work out in a call.

Structurally around 43% less spent on hiring, with the same grip on who you take on. Shall we run the numbers for your roles?

At 8 hires per year you are on the boundary between Starter (3 to 8 hires) and Scale (8 to 20 hires). Which of the two fits depends on your growth plans.

THE BUILD-UP

From gross salary to actual costs.

A recruiter on €3,750 gross per month does not cost €45,000. Below is where the difference sits, and how the agency route works out differently.

Cost build-up per year, in-house recruiter alongside agency per vacancy
Cost item In-house recruiter Agency per vacancy
Gross salary, €3,750 per month€45,000not applicable
Employer costs, 40%€18,000not applicable
Agency fee, 20% per placementnot applicable€96,000
Tooling such as LinkedIn Recruiter and an ATS€7,500€7,500
Allocated overhead: management, training, supervision€7,500not applicable
Actual annual investment€78,000€103,500
Cost per hire€9,750€12,938

You pay for twelve months, but with at least twenty days of holiday you get about 11 of them. Over 11 months worked, €78,000 comes down to €7,091 per month, against €6,500 if you divide by twelve. This figure sits next to the total and is not included in it.

THE BASIS

Where every number comes from.

The items for the in-house recruiter and our own annual rate are set. The capacity per recruiter and the agency fee percentage are market assumptions you can adjust yourself.

All assumptions, with their source Four items for the in-house recruiter, the agency fee, our annual rate, the capacity limit and what is deliberately left out
FROM SENNASEARCH

Gross monthly salary of the recruiter

€3,750, variant €4,000

Sennasearch's own starting point. €3,750 per month is €45,000 gross per year, the €4,000 variant comes to €48,000. The field takes any figure, so you can enter your own level.

FROM SENNASEARCH

Employer costs on top of the gross salary

40%

Pension, holiday allowance, social security contributions and insurance. At €45,000 gross that is €18,000, together €63,000 in employment cost per year.

FROM SENNASEARCH

Tooling such as LinkedIn Recruiter and an ATS

€7,500

One amount per recruiter per year, not a range. If you enter your own figure, it replaces this item in both routes.

FROM SENNASEARCH

Allocated overhead

€7,500

Management, training and supervision. An in-house recruiter takes time from the people above them, and that time is what this covers. No more than that: setting it higher flatters the comparison.

CHECK ON THE TOTAL

The four items added up

€78,000

€45,000 gross plus €18,000 employer costs plus €7,500 tooling plus €7,500 overhead. Set the monthly salary to €4,000 and the total becomes €82,200.

ALONGSIDE THE TOTAL

You pay for twelve months, you get eleven

€7,091 per month worked

At least twenty days of holiday is about a month of work. Deliberately a separate line: included in the annual total, it would come to €85,091, and that is not a cost you actually pay.

ASSUMPTION

Capacity of one recruiter

20 hires per year

Derived from the ranges on the RPO page: the Scale model runs up to 20 hires per year with one in-house recruiter. Above that limit the calculator adds a second recruiter. All fixed items then count twice, and so does our own rate: for double the volume we also deliver double. Still to be confirmed.

ASSUMPTION

Agency fee per placement

20% of the gross annual salary

A market-standard starting point for search and selection in the Netherlands, not a Sennasearch rate. The field can be adjusted. Still to be confirmed.

FROM SENNASEARCH

Sennasearch's annual rate

€40,000 to €44,000

An indication for the equivalent of one recruiter, per year. No monthly amounts: those depend on the roles, the volume and the duration, and come in a proposal. Every assignment is different.

NOT COUNTED

What is deliberately left out of the comparison

Three items

Onboarding and ramp-up time (previously €10,000: it costs time, but is not an invoice you pay). Recruiting the recruiter (€5,000 to €15,000: a one-off cost, not an annual figure). And the new employee's salary, since you pay that whichever route you take.

The outcome is a calculation model, not a quotation. In a call we work it through for your roles, your region and your current situation.

Shall we work it out together.

In a first call we go through your real numbers: which roles you have open, what they cost you now and what is not getting done. After that you will know whether RPO fits.

No obligations. We look at whether it fits first.
